About James Heathe

A Voice Rooted in Rustbelt Grit and Lyrical Storytelling
James Heathe writes fiction that feels lived-in—raw, reflective, and deeply tied to place. Though he was born just outside Boston, it’s Youngstown, Ohio that shaped his voice. The steel town’s history, resilience, and quiet strength became the heartbeat of his storytelling, and the place he now calls home. James is a graduate of The University of Massachusetts, Amherst and a proud "Minuteman".

Today, James lives in Northeast Ohio with his wife, five children, and five grandchildren. His life is woven into the same streets, stories, and spirit that fuel his writing. After years of crafting fiction behind the scenes, he’s stepping into the spotlight with his debut novel.

Coming this September: The Mahoning Trumpet

This isn’t just a first book; it’s the launch of a literary journey decades in the making. The Mahoning Trumpet dives deep into identity, memory, and the echoes of a region that refuses to be forgotten.

It’s fiction that doesn’t flinch, told with heart and grit.

James Heathe is just getting started. And if you’re drawn to stories that honor place, history, and the complexity of being human, his voice is one to watch.
